Breast reduction surgery also called ‘reduction mammoplasty’ is a surgery to reduce the size and weight of large heavy breasts. Many Women develops large breast after puberty or pregnancy which can create discomfort. They can go under this surgery to reduce the size of breast proportion to there to the body.
What breast reduction involves
Breast reduction surgery is carried out under general anaesthetic. Generally, the operation involves:
- moving your nipple to its new position – usually while it’s still attached to the blood supply
- removing excess fat, glandular tissue and skin from your breasts
- reshaping the remaining breast tissue
The surgery usually done under 2 to 3 hours, depending on the size of the breast.
You’ll usually need to stay in hospital for 1 or 2 nights.
Breast Reduction Options
Cosmetic surgeons can use one of several different surgical techniques when performing breast reduction; which technique a surgeon will use for any given patient depends on the patient’s existing breast anatomy, the type and amount of tissue to be removed, and the patient’s desired outcome.
